ACTIVITIES

NGO Activities : 1. Environment awareness & education conducting since inception of the organisation in 1990 in Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Golaghat & few places of Tawang & Changlang District in Arunachal pradesh 2. Conducted number of mass educatuion, awareness & few research programme on critically endangered primate Golden langursince 1990 in its habitat range among the tribal & other communities including forest communities. 3.Conducted socio-economic survey among the communities in the 28 nos. of villages of southern periphery of Manas National Park for the first time in 1993-94 under Gauhati University& WWF-I, Eastern Region. 4. Conducted eco-development programme among the tribal communities in Kokrajhar district in co-operation with Assam Science Technology & Environment Council in 1995 5.Conducted number of youth & student camps on conservation of nature,national integration, brotherhood etc. in Kokrajha, Barpeta & Odalguri District & Buxa NP of North-Bengal. 6Conducted number of awareness programme on women right, women empowerment, SHGs formation etc. among the tribal & few other communities in Kokrajhar District. 7. Conducted number of training programme on mushroom culture, vermicompost, organic farming, medicinal & aromatic plants, nursery raising technique, micro-finance, SHGs formation & management among the tribal & other youth for self sustenance. 9. Conducted bi-diversity survey with special emphasis on avifauna, mammals, butterfly, fish & reptiles etc. in Kokrajhar district & adjacent Dhubri & Bongaigaon District. 10. Conducted survey on distribution of Golden langur in western Assam, its habitat etc. under Dr. R.P.Mukherjee of ZSI, Kolkata 11. Participated number of times in Tiger & Elephant census programme in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh with Dept. pf Forests of concerned states. 12. Initiated community conservation & protection of large areas of Reserve Forests, Wildlife Sanctuary, with special emphasis on Golden langur & other wildlife & in-sit uplant species in different areas of Western Assam. 13.Conducted high altitude globally threatened birds in Arunachal Pradesh of Eastern Himalayas with Birdlife International & BNHS.Also conducted survey on existence of a new macaque in Arunachal Pradesh whuich is new to science under a WWF sponsored programme of Dr. A.U.Choudhury. 14. Conducted number of awareness, education & motivation programme among the local stakeholders of wetlands of biodiversity importance in western Assam & few research programme in collaboration with SACON- India, BNHS etc. under guidance of Prof. P.C. Bhattacharjee of Gauhati University, Assam 15. Conducted number of animal health camps including vaccination, monior surgery etc. for duty elephant of protected areas &villagers of forest & fringe areas. 16.Rescued more than 250 numbers of wildlife from poachers, distress, winded etc. which & successfully rehabilitated with active collaboration with Forest Deptt. 17.Conducted number of National, Local etc.level seminars, workshops,Meetings etc. on various social & environmental issues in Assam. 18.Manas Biosphere Conservation Forum a network of NGOs in Western Assam formed & being the Chief-co-ordinator is well functioning till to-date. 19. An initiative taken for the first time in Kokrajhar District to resolve the ethnic clash between Bodo & Santhal in 1999 & successfully counseling people of both communities & trust built for peaceful co-existing in their respective villages & finally number of IAY houses built for them in collaboration with DRDA & Deputy Commissioner and also provide then livelihood support under CAPART schemes. 20. Number of Legal awareness priogramme conducted among the women & mass people both in Urban & Rural areas in Kokrakjar District. Besides Legal Awareness programme also conducted among the Forest Employees regarding Environment & Criminal Law. 21.Organised villagers of 55 nos. of villages in Kkrajhar District of which more than 805 are tribal villagers of different communities for socio-economic development empowering local villagers both men & women with special emphasis on youth development.
