NGO Activities : Natarang Pratishthan - A Theatre Archives and Theatre Resource Centre having exhaustive collection of material on theatre, other performing arts, literature etc inclusive of 5000 books, 3500 periodicals, 775 play texts, 250 seminar papers, 17000 photographs, 6500 brochures, 1000 posters, 7000 invitations cards, 150000 press clippings, 1500 audio-video recordings, CDs, DVDs etc. Our objective is to provide vital inputs for all those who are interested in theatre or other aspects of performances, arts and culture through archival and creative activities. The Pratishthan has been interacting with some of the great minds of performing world and engaged with multi dimensional activities as- Documenting theatrical processes of Indian and Asian directors in audio visual and textual medium. Exhaustive Documentation of eminent Indian directors like Sombhu Mitra, B.V. Karanth, Habib Tanvir, Satyadev Dubey, Vijaya Mehta, Badal Sircar, K.N.Panikkar, Rajinder Nath, Bansi Kaul, Om Shivpuri, M.K. Raina, Neelam Mansingh etc. Organized some of the first ever festivals and events as- Poorva - Fortnight long festival and conference of Asian Women Theatre Directors, in collaboration with NSD and ICCR. Rang Nirantar - Launching of Natarang Weekend Theatre bringing regular theatre by top ranking theatre groups of Delhi. Rang Samvaad - Series of public dialogues with eminent theatre artists like Satyadev Dubey, Vijaya Mehta, Master Fida Husain, Zohra Segal, Bansi Kaul, Mahesh Elcunchwar, Rajinder Nath etc. Paraspar - Three day event with performances and seminar on Actor and Acting in Hindi theatre focusing on two eminent actors - Uttara Baokar and Manohar Singh along with performances. Exhibition of photographs, press clippings and other material on the actors. Presentation of Theatre Music by B.V. Karanth, Mohan Upreti, Ram Dayal Sharma. Symposium on Contemporary Indian Theatre and Arts - Participants included Sonal Mansingh, Bhaskar Chandravarkar, B. V. Karanth, Namwar Singh and Ashok Vajpeyi. Panel discussion on Text, Reading and Performances by Namwar Singh, Govind Deshpande, Suresh Awasthi and Nemichandra Jain. Lecture - Demonstration on Theatre Music by Narendra Kamal Shrimali. Interaction with Japanese and Indian dancers, theatre practitioners, scholars and critics in collaboration with Japan Foundation, Delhi. Four day Asian Seminar cum Workshop on Documenting Theatre with experts from Japan, Singapore, Philippines and Thailand besides India with assistance from Japan Foundation Asia Centre. Painting exhibition of 40 eminent artists including Raza, Akbar Padamsee, Ram Kumar, K. G. Subrahmanyam, Manjit Bawa, Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, Neelima Sheikh, Gogi Pal, Jogen Chowdhury and others. Shamsher Ki Awaz - Dramatic reading of poems of noted Hindi poet Shamsher Bahadur Singh. Nemichandra Jain Memorial Lectures in memory of Shri Nemichandra Jain, founder chairman, Natarang Pratishthan by Prabhash Joshi, Kumar Shahni, Krishna Kumar, Mukund Lath and Dialogue between Mahesh Elkunchwar and Maya Rao. Publication of Natarang theatre journal from 1965, the only journal of its kind dedicated to the development and documentation of activities and ideas in theatre.
