NGO Activities : In last eight years of active operation, NECCI has successfully organized seminars, workshops, expositions, conference on Agriculture, Energy, Education, Entrepreneurship Development, Health care, Climate Change, Total Quality control (TQM), Buyer & Seller Meet on Cane & Bamboo, Enterprise Development Expo 2002, Herbs 2002, PRAGATI I 2003- India’s First International floating exposition on board a fleet of barges on River Brahmaputra, with participation from neighboring countries, PRAGATI II, PRAGATI III & PRAGATI IV respectively. Moreover, for the first time in the history of North Eastern Region a mega intellectual event under the name and style SAMRIDDHI- The North East Entrepreneurship and Brand Summit was held at Dynasty Hotel, Guwahati from 13th- 15th January 2005. Corporate India’s brightest stars assembled at this summit. The brand summit was attended by a host of business leaders and brand experts like Alyque Padamsee, Alan D Souza, Harish Bijoor, Rajeev Karwal, Jeroninio Almeida to name a few. Besides these, NECCI has also published a number of handbooks, viz; “Insurgence to Resurgence”, “Evolving Performing Strategies for Agro Products Development, “PRAGNYA” and a quarterly journal titled, “The North East Review” on various topics representing the N-E region. NECCI has focussed its attention on industrialisation and it has been presently representing “ Associated Chamber of Commerce & Industry of India” ; “ Confederation of Indian Industry “ and the task force created by Ministry of DONER, Govt. of India in Nagaland as member . NECCI has signed a MOU with the Dhaka based South Asia Enterprise Development Facility, a multi-donor funded facility established by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and managed by the SME Department of the World Bank Group for Entrepreneurship Development on November 29, 2004 and was also appointed the member of the Core Group formed by SEDF for the promotion of Bilateral Trade between NEI & Bangladesh. NECCI has also been appointed as the NODAL AGENCY for the entire North Eastern states by Rashtriya Mahila Kosh, Department of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India to implement their various micro- credit schemes and appointed as the SUB CONTRACTING EXCHANGE (SCX) for the N-E Region by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India, New Delhi. It has also been a proud privilege for NECCI to initiate the visit of a host of the following VVIP’s, who visited the State of Assam, viz; 1. Visit of Dr. John E. Mitchiner, British Deputy High Commissioner to Eastern India to facilitate joint venture between British and Indian companies in the State. 2. Visit of IFC (World Bank Group) representatives for appraisal to establish “Project Development Facility” ( PDF ) for SME sector in the N.E. Region. 3. Inauguration of the British Information on- line centre at the office of the NECCI by Dr. John E. Mitchiner, Deputy High Commissioner to Eastern India. 4. Visit of Austrian Trade Commissioner Dr. S. Dabringer to explore the opportunities in trade and commercial activities between Austria and India particularly with the North Eastern Region of India. 5. Visit of Mr. Robert Blackwill, American Ambassador to India to find out Indo-US Partnership possibilities in the North East Region. 6. Visit of Dr. ANTON DE WILDE, Programme Manager, IFC from the World Bank Group to discuss & explore the activities which can be taken up jointly by NECCI and IFC. 7. Visit of Sir Rob Young, British High Commissioner to India to discuss about the law and order situation and industrial activities in the state of Assam. 8. Organized an interactive meet with Mr. Boguslow Z. Kisiel, Commercial Counselor, Embassy of Poland on trade relations with north eastern states of India.
