NGO Activities : Citizens Association for Rural Development (CARD) was involved in the year 1991 by a band of social activists mainly to render the social services to the down trodden, dalits, poor, women and children as well as the deprived sections of the community. CARD is registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 CARD is working for the socio-economic development, Primary education, Women literacy, RCH, ISM & H, Prevention of HIV/AIDS, Income Generating programme for Womens, Rehabilitation programme for disability people, Agricultural promotion, Water & Sanitation, Skill upgradation training for of the S.C., S.T and other backward communities, in the districts of Ganjam & Gajapati of Orissa. CARD deliberately escorts the exploited and marginalized people having the best ways of sustainability leading towards a viable quality of life. With regards it’s integrated rural and tribal development approaches CARD is organizing people as a self-reliance potential pressure-groups and forums acknowledging their rights, SUCCESS STORY OF BELESWARI SHG AT SIKULIPADAR OF MOHANA BLOCK Our organization CARD formed and strengthening 20 Nos. of women SHGs in 10 villages of Sikulipadar and Merapalli G.P under Mohana block of Gajapati district. The Beleswari SHG of Sikulipadar is an active SHG. The SHG formed by 10 members. Our organization strengthen the SHG members through CAPART programme and sensitized on rule and regulation, management of SHG and process of accountant and regular monthly meeting of the SHG members. After that our organization conducted management of leadership training. The president, secretary and members participated from each group. The Beleswari SHG members are actively participated in the training programme, our resource person spoke about SHG management, process of regular meeting, bank linkage, monthly savings and account system. They use literature and game method process. Our organization also conducted the Entrepreneurship development training programme for the SHG leaders, the president and secretary of Beleswari SHG also participated in the training. Mr. Jagannath Sahu attended as a resource person and spoke about linkage of bank, Facility for Govt. schemes and tie of marketing system. The Beleswari SHG members are interested mushroom cultivation. After completion of training the members are conducting regular meeting, monthly savings and interaction with each other and revolving the funds among the members. Our organization conducted the orientation training to Beleswari SHG for mushroom cultivation, Our instructor trained on shed preparation, bed preparation, paddy straw immersion, use of pulses power and wheat bran with spawn, and watering system, polyethylene package and identification of temperature and lighting system of the area. After completion of the training the members of Beleswari SHG actively cultivating the mushroom and production per day 10 to 12 k.g. of mushroom. The minimum profit of the each member is Rs. 50/- to 60/- rupees per day. The SHG members also operate the MDM for Sikulipadar school students and involvement with village education committee and their children going to the school regularly. The women’s are developed their financial condition through the support of CAPART programme.
